"Stronger Together" features:

  • Grace Imathiu leading a Bible Study
  • Energetic, uplifting worship as well as time to meet and mingle. Union Memorial United Voices of Praise, the gospel choir of Union Memorial UMC in St. Louis, will help lead the closing worship.
  • Keynote address by young adult missionaries Tawanda Chandiwana from Zimbabwe and Miracle Osman from Malawi. They were doing human rights work in the Philippines when the government got upset and detained them. However, prayers and an outcry by United Methodists around the world finally moved the government to release them and allow them to return safely home. You can read more about their story at http://www.umc.org/who-we-are/united-methodist-bishops-ask-philippines-government-to-release-umc-missiona

“Stronger Together” will help UM leaders from both the Central Conferences and US see how we are already working together to advance justice and peace on a global basis. It highlights how United Methodist young adults from Africa, the Philippines, Europe and the United States are leading the way. And, it lifts up a vision of how continuing to develop long-term relationships around the globe can grow and expand this work.

Your Invitation:

Please join the NY GC delegation for Conversation at the Crossroads, a townhall-style discussion with #LGBTQ delegates, Friday, February 22, 2019, 4:30pm – 6:30pm in the Lindell Conference Room at the Holiday Inn, at 811 North Ninth St., across from the Convention Center.

The fate of LGBTQI people is at the center of the struggle over the future of the UMC. Yet many General Conference delegates have never had the chance to discuss and discern that future together with their LGBTQI Methodist siblings.

The only viable and lasting way forward for the church will be forged *with* LGBTQI people.

We aim to help make that way forward possible by connecting delegates and others with delegates who will also be most affected by the outcome of this special GC. We especially encourage GC delegates and queer family who will be at #GC2019 to come. The event is open to all, including the press.

Please help spread the word! SHARE WITH YOUR GC DELEGATION AND ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO WILL BE AT GC. The event will also be livestreamed.
