Community of Grace
An Interdenominational Worshipping Community of Lesbians, Gays, and Others Identified With Us
Community of Grace existed from about 1981 to about 1987 in Lincoln, Nebraska, and was organized because there were no places for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people to gather for worship as who they were, openly and without need for apology. I present it here as an example of what gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people can do to form their own communities of worship and spiritual growth.
This paper was written for a class at Iliff School of Theology during the spring quarter, 1997, and describes the Community as an experience of Church at the Margins (see bibliography).
